Beginning on Sunday morning, January 7, I will be teaching a weekly Parsha Ha-Shavua class via Zoom, sponsored by Temple Beth El of Springfield, Massachusetts. The first session will focus on Parashat Vaera, in which God “hardens Pharaoh’s heart.” If Judaism holds that we have free will, how can God deprive Pharaoh of his choice? If Pharoah has no free will, is it just for God to punish him for refusing to let the Jewish People go? For each weekly parsha we will explore some of these kinds of issues through the writings of the traditional commentators on the Torah.
So, pull up a chair and settle in with a cuppa Joe from the comfort of your own home to explore the fascinating world of the Torah. No knowledge of Hebrew is necessary, and all are welcome.
